As a new blogger, all the information out there can be incredibly overwhelming. Which course is better? Are these testimonials real? How can I afford to take every course possible when I haven’t even made money with my blog?
Although I have been blogging for awhile, there are still courses and e-books that pop up that I would love to take. I have a dedicated Pinterest board titled “Blog Want” just for all these courses and e-books. But, I stay disciplined because I don’t want more money going out than I have coming in, so I treat myself to a blog want every month. This is also a good way to “sleep on it” as well, because sometimes I will come back to a course or book and realize I either no longer need it, or want to check something else out that I discovered later.
Sometimes you get so excited reading about a course, and think to yourself, “I HAVE to have this!” Only to see the price tag and immediately feel rejected. Who wants to pay $600+ for something when you are just starting out? I know some people can, and will, but I was and am not one of those people.
Although I am sure those courses are well worth their money in gold, most new bloggers are not in the position to shell out that kind of money for something like that just yet.
Luckily there are some courses and e-books out there that are both affordable AND informative, and I have purchased each one of these recommended here. So I can tell you from experience how they helped me grow my blog. I have broken it down by courses & books, priced from lowest to highest. And if you have any questions about any of these, please feel free to reach out!

These courses range from $7.99 to $75, depending on which package you choose. All of these books I highly recommend!
Becca writes over at My Crazy Good Life and has been blogging for years! The book will give you all of her advice about blog design, community building, and monetization. Purchasing the book also grants you admittance to her private Facebook group where you can ask for advice from other bloggers, support one another, and get her thoughts about your favorite blogging topics. I learned A LOT from this book. And you can’t beat that price!
Ruth is a well known blogger who writes over at Living Well Spending Less, and the creator of the huge blogging course, Elite Blogging Academy. I heard from a little bird that this book is like a scaled down version of her class, so I snatched it up from my local library, and then purchased it after reading it all in 2 days. TONS of information on blogging and monetizing your blog, and all sorts of tips and tricks to help you out. Check your local library first – but if they don’t have it this is well worth the $9.99.
I read this book (in one night!) and immediately implemented her strategies the next day. At the time my Facebook followers was stalling around 80, and within 10 days I jumped up to over 200! I would call that good growth If you are looking to build a community within your blog’s Facebook page, then this book is a must read. If you want to upgrade and purchase the workbook, you will spend an extra $10.
About 6 months into blogging, I purchased this book and super glad I did! I was able to implement so many of her tips into my blog in the early stages and not have to worry about changing anything later. She gives so many amazing tricks on just making your blog look clean and readable, and small tips you wouldn’t even think of.
I can not begin to tell you how this book helped my blog grow. If you check out my November 2016 income report, my page views SKYROCKETED after I implemented her strategies. Such a wealth of information! And Lena is SO friendly! I am in her Facebook group and she is always quick to help out and provide information, and just all around a sweet person. Buy her book!
Building A Framework was the first book I purchased, and I am SO glad that I did. This book is FULL of information you need when you get started on blogging and I still refer back to it these days. Abby has a successful blog, and makes 5 figures a month so she knows a thing or two about blogging. The difference in the price varies on which package you purchase. The $25 is just the book and some additional printables. The $50 gives you access to additional videos and the $75 gives you access to blogger interviews and the private Facebook group. I personally purchased the $75 package and it was worth every cent. But the $25 with just the book alone is incredibly valuable!
Blog courses are always a little harder to invest in when you are starting out because of the high cost. But these courses are all under $200 and very worth it. Some of them even offer payment plans – you can’t beat that!
This 30-day blogging challenge will absolutely change the way you look at, plan and publish the content on your blog/website. It is going to help you strengthen your blogging efforts and get better results from each and every post you create.
By the end of the course, Katie will have provided you with the knowledge to drive more traffic to your blog, and 15+ fresh new posts for you to add to your blog
A-MAZING course. I took this course (as well as the other affiliate course listed) and learned so much from each of them.
In this 6 lesson course you’ll learn the secrets, tools and strategies Katie uses to make money from her email completely independent of how many pageviews she gets each month. This course shows you how to build trust with your readers and find offers you think will be valuable to them.
What an awesome course! You get a class manual with 70+ pages of information, 4 training modules, 4 weekly online group coaching sessions, a FREE YEAR of hosting (worth it right there!), FREE blog set up & lots more. I had already paid for my hosting and had my blog set up when I purchased this, so I missed out on those sweet deals!
This class was probably the #1 reason my Pinterest grew like I did. If you saw my income reports in late 2016, you can see how my Pinterest referrals almost doubled each month. You know Pinterest is less like a social media platform, and more like a search engine – right? Well this course tells you how to make your way through Pinterest and set yourself up for success.
Michelle is one of the reasons I started blogging in the first place. I read about how she blogs and travels in an RV full time, and was so intrigued! You may have heard about her – she sometimes makes $100K per month (crazy!) so naturally when she came out with her course, I signed right up. The private Facebook group alone is worth the course, and I made the cost of the course back in less than 2 months. Definitely worth checking out!
So there you have it – welcome to blogging! I hope that these courses and books help you out and ease a little of the confusion and overwhelming feeling of starting a blog. I am always here to answer any questions you have, so feel free to comment below!
